The designs of the contract division: from homes to hotels and even theatres and ships
Late 1970s: for Molteni, its project involving the creation of two embassies in Saudi Arabia offered a valuable opportunity for developing and improving technologically. And this opportunity generated the Contract Division, the fifth production site which extends the range of activities performed by the Group to include large turnkey design projects for public areas and work spaces. A commitment undertaken jointly by Molteni&C, Dada; Unifor and Citterio, today strengthened by thirty years of experience, featuring projects in many respected international locations.
Paris, Milan, Mumbai, London, Miami and New York are only some of the big cities the Molteni style has encountered. A precise level of quality and taste, obtained when working with high profile designers, and guaranteeing possibilities for customising and managing the entire process through integrated services, including logistic solutions and after-sales assistance. A few examples of some of these exceptional partnerships? Foster+Partners, Studio Urquiola, Studio Herzog & de Meuron, Giorgio Armani Design Studio, Renzo Piano, Thierry W. Despont, Jean Nouvel. They have all entrusted their creative talent to the expertise of Molteni, in the production and organisational aspects of business.
Hotels, residences, theatres, museums, ships, stores become the backdrops for settings that combine prestigious locations with a high level of design, innovative materials and attention to details. A whole repertoire of tailor-made furnishing solutions which stimulates the creation of unique concepts, all featuring a strong personal identity and a wide international outlook. All of the know-how owned by Dada is invested in the innovative forms of the majestic kitchen created in Paris for Atelier Mâitre Chocolatier Patrick Roger, while the kitchen areas designed by King George for the WorldOne residential building are by Armani/Dada. The building is a 117-storey wonder of construction created in Mumbai by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners. There are no limits or geographical borders which restrict this personalisation: from the beachside splendours of the Saxony Miami Beach Residence by Foster+Partners or the urban atmospheres of the New York building by Herzog & de Meuron on no. 56 Leonard Street, a perfect fusion of the reference architecture and the designer’s ideas is always guaranteed.
This is the priority of the Contract Division. In order to achieve it, Molteni is ready to propose a series of ideas capable of catering and finding solutions for all kinds of environments, with both serial-produced and bespoke furniture. You can go from the warm bistro feel of the Mio Bar in Milan to the contemporary domestic elegance of the Domus Aventino residences in Rome, and see the same attention to detail and the same focus on achieving a stylistic coherence in any kind of environment. Quality always and everywhere is the fil rouge that unites the products of the Molteni universe, a vocation that has never been denied and on the contrary is now on the receiving end of more and more praise and appreciation from the contract world.
